Water

Last night the water main was covered up and we officially have running water!! The heat should be fixed tomorrow (the heating vents had to be cut to fix the water main). Thank you cousin Jason for saving our bacon!

Bailey is also doing well, no more swelling. It was probably just a virus. I guess I shouldn't get too excited about these things. Apparently kids just have weird things all the time and as my mom says, I am too uptight about it. :-)

Next project - getting the sprinkler system in.

Longest Week Ever

Well... We have had the longest week ever, at least it seems that way. I am going to bore you with the details.

Monday - Last weekend we noticed that Bailey's hands were swelling and they were really red. So we watched her and by Monday afternoon her whole body was swollen. So off to the Dr. we went. Three hours, one catheter, and blood draw later...we found out that she may or may not have a viral infection that settled in her skin. Basically we watch her and get another urine sample next week. So far we are good, no swelling and Bailey seems just fine.
While I was having fun with Bailey, Ben was home working on the yard. We are ripping up the lawn and old leaky sprinklers and putting in new. So we have a 1/2 torn out yard.

Tuesday - Ben moved to a new department at work. And I don't think i mentioned this before, but i have a new job at work as well. I started last week.

Wednesday - I did primary visits and book group. Emily (wonderful sister that she is watched Bailey). Ben was back at the yard. Unfortunately while digging up the yard, the backhoe hit the water main and it basically shattered. The pipes were old and corroded so we went without water that night.

Thursday - I spent the day working at my mom's (I work from home two days a week). That way Bailey and I could shower and have hot water for bottles. Tonight we had a number of people over to look at the water main and try to determine how to fix it. The best ideas included: put up a for sale sign, dig a basement, extend the front of the house 2 feet, cut through the foundation, etc. So you can see we have a small problem. Our house is built on a concrete slab, no basement, no crawl space.

Friday... We have another plummer coming over to take a look.

I'm not worried - I hear indoor plumbing is over-rated!

Happy Easter!

Bailey's first Easter was a success. The Easter Bunny made it to our house and brought Bailey a swimming suit and sunglasses. Unfortunately she was more interested in her Daddy's basket of candy. I had to pry a peanut m&m out of her mouth - a task harder than it sounds.

Texas Longhorns

I had to go Austin, Texas on business this week. So of course Bailey received a present - who knew she was a Texas Longhorns Fan?!

Helmet Head

Today we had Bailey's one month appointment for her helmet. In case you haven't seen Bailey lately, she is now sporting a lovely pink with butterflies helmet. We hope the helmet will round out her flat head. Apparently it is working - YEAH!! One more month of wearing it 23 hours a day and then one month of wearing it at night and we will be done.

I am so glad that Bailey will be done before summer. I can't imagine how uncomfortable it would be to wear in the heat.

Comments heard about the helmet:

  • What football team does she play for?
  • Hey Helmet Head!
  • We should write "Bowling League Champion 2007" on her helmet (thank you Aunt Emily)
